1. Old Greenwood – Truckee, California
Opening May 13, 2022: Old Greenwood Golf Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, offers 7,518 yards of challenging play. Its landscape is the ultimate scenic location with towering Jeffery pines, blue sagebrush, and winding streams connecting four large rainbow trout lakes. Old Greenwood has been honored many times as one of the nation’s best golf courses; most recently it was included in Golfweek’s Top 200 Residential Golf Courses of 2022.
2. Gray’s Crossing – Truckee, California
Opening May 20, 2022: Old Greenwood’s sister course, Gray’s Crossing is conveniently located close to North Lake Tahoe lodging and is known for challenging the avid golfer with elevation changes and water hazards. Designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, it captivates a golfer’s passion for nature, fun, and strategic play. The course is lengthy stretching to 7,466 yards. Immerse yourself in an environment of serine native wetlands, wildflowers, and towering Jeffery and Lodgepole pines. Gray’s Crossing was also included in Golfweek’s Top 200 Residential Golf Courses of 2022.

4. Northstar California Golf Course – North Lake Tahoe, California
Set within the Martis Valley’s open meadows, the Northstar California Golf Course grants players beautiful Sierra Mountain landscapes. Divided into two distinct 9 hole segments, this course is challenging, yet accommodates all levels of players. Northstar is a great location for families and even hosts a junior golf program. 5. Incline Village Championship & Mountain Golf Courses – North Lake Tahoe, Nevada
Incline Village is home to two golf courses; the Championship course, designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones Sr., and the Mountain Golf Course, known for its quick play. The two courses offer very different golfing options. They are located approximately 20-30 minutes away from Northstar hotels and Truckee lodging rentals.
The Championship course offers a stimulating routing with many doglegs, a familiar trait of a RTJ Sr. layout. Renovated in 2003, The Championship course maintains its character and classic architecture. The Incline Village Championship Course boasts many accolades including Golfweek’s Best-In-State Nevada Course” in 2017.
The Incline Village Mountain Course is a great option to sneak in between a few of the longer courses on our list. The Mountain 18 plays to shorter yardage and is considered to be more player-friendly. It is also a great choice for a morning round when you have afternoon plans.
6. Edgewood – South Lake Tahoe, California
This legendary golf course is located a short hour’s drive around beautiful Lake Tahoe from North Lake Tahoe. It is the perfect day trip when staying in a Northstar condo rental. Designed by George Fazio and referred to as one of America’s Top Golf Courses by Golf Digest, Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course is home to unforgettable golfing events. The course hosts the annual American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in July.
